Tour 1 - Discover the historic old town of Cologne

TRANSFER AND MEETING POINTS
  • Pick-up at the official hotels + welcome by the local tour guide: 9 am
  • Transfer to the lunch location: from 12 noon
  • The transfers take place in modern electric buses
OVERVIEW
Discover the old town of Cologne, the historic alleys and its important sights. On their tour, the group will stroll along Cologne Cathedral - the city's landmark - a Roman Catholic church and one of the most visited sights in Germany.

The tour continues to the historic town hall, officially the oldest town hall in Germany. It is located right in the heart of the cathedral city. Since its early beginnings, the town hall complex has been known as “a house where the citizens come together”.

Particularly unique: the carillon, which can play 24 different melodies!

If you stroll through the old town, you can't avoid taking a photo of the colorful houses at the fish market. In medieval Cologne, a large trading center was built on the site where the Benedictine abbey once stood, primarily to provide traders with a transshipment point for their fish.

The colorful monuments were probably residential and trading houses. However, the narrow, lined-up houses are more likely to have been the homes of the wealthier merchants. Today, each of the houses shines in a different color and no two are really alike. Nevertheless, they form a unity and are definitely among the most photographed Cologne highlights.

On their tour through the center of Cologne, the group passes other memorable buildings before heading to the Rheinterrassen for lunch.

Tour 2 - Sticky and sweet – The Chocolate Museum

TRANSFER AND MEETING POINTS
  • Pick-up at the official hotels + welcome by the local tour guide: 9 am
  • Transfer to the lunch location: from 12 noon
  • The transfers take place in modern electric buses
OVERVIEW
The Chocolate Museum in the Rheinauhafen is a real piece of Cologne and is one of the top 10 museums in Germany.

Embark on a journey through the 5,000-year cultural history of cocoa and chocolate. Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of sweet temptation and enjoy a varied journey of experience.

Cologne-born Dr. Hans Imhoff - a chocolate manufacturer and chocolate lover since childhood - found today's exhibits by chance while moving his factory and saved them from disposal at the last minute. In what was initially thought to be garbage, Imhoff saw real treasures that had something to tell.

And so he created the unique Chocolate Museum, which since then has provided a comprehensive insight into the cultural and industrial history of chocolate and is a source of amazement (and awe) for young and old alike.

The chocolate fountain, the golden landmark of the museum, is filled with 200 kilograms of the finest Lindt chocolate. And so the tour is not only about the history of chocolate, but also about nibbling delicious warm chocolate from a fountain.

Tour 3 - Footsteps of the ancient Romans

OVERVIEW
Over 2,000 years ago, the Romans established the first settlement in the area of Cologne's old town, which was granted city rights and a new name in the middle of the 1st century: Colona Claudia Ara Agrippinensium.

A city wall was built, a network of streets, a water supply and sewage system were laid out, residential areas, commercial enterprises and magnificent buildings were erected.

The Romans thus created an urban infrastructure that still influences the cityscape of Cologne today. Even the main shopping streets of today resemble those of 2,000 years ago.

This tour gives you the opportunity to see ancient remains from a world before our time and make unique historical discoveries. Immerse yourself in the ancient history of the city of Cologne.
